5 Case Studies: How to Use Guest Blogging to Increase Organic Traffic

July 5, 2022

Guest posting is, without a doubt, one of the most effective strategies to establish your market credibility by gaining important links and useful traffic. And some successful guest blogging examples of reputable websites are well-known around the world.

Creating guest articles takes a lot of time. The harsh fact is that, given how hectic running a business can be, not everyone can manage it. However, executing an effective guest blogging strategy in-house is not the only option.

So, there is no denying that guest blogging can boost website traffic and company loyalty. But it takes planning—just having a guest post isn’t enough. There seem to be thousands of guest blogging ideas claiming the secret formula for increasing traffic, leads, and income for your company through guest blogging.

Many companies are eager to tell you what they did and how you can do it too—but the majority of these recommendations are nothing more than glorified advertisements with no facts to back up their claims.

However, there are actual case studies that can lead you through the whom, where, when, why, and also how of an organization’s guest blogging journey. And these practical examples can provide you with useful insights regardless of where you will be.

The truth is that the majority of organizations will not experience instant benefits from their guest blogging activities. It takes time to develop a blog, time to cultivate and grow a following, and time for people to recognize it. However, on a long-term basis, it is beneficial.

We compiled five specific case studies and guest blogging examples of businesses and individuals who used guest blogging to drastically increase traffic to their websites, along with data to back it up. We’ll go over the tactics they implemented and why they were successful.

Using Guest Blogging Case Studies to Boost Organic Traffic:

Case Study #1: In just 3 months, traffic increased at a speed of 5x

Kevin Payne wrote this case study. In his case study, he explains how he devised a plan to persuade bloggers to accept his guest pieces. Writing high-quality, long-form blogs, he claims, has aided him. These are articles with a minimum word count of 1,000 words. He goes on to say that the average length of a blog article that ranks on the first google page is 1,890 words.

He also reached out to important influencers using third-party platforms like Buzzsumo. This tool also offers a function that shows the domain authority of a website, making it easier to figure out which blogs are worth contacting.

The author increased his monthly traffic to the website from 1,000 to 5,000 views in just three months of guest posting. It’s also worth noting that Google search results account for 80% of all traffic. The number of visitors to the site has increased by 20% per month.

At least 15 of those visitors result in qualified leads. To top it off, Kevin is now being approached by more prestigious publications with content requests. This is just more evidence that, when it comes to obtaining a favorable search engine ranking rank, publishing content for others can still help you get there owing to useful backlinks.

Case Study #2: How Jon Cooper’s Website Garnered Over 400 Visits a Day

Hyperlynx Media, Inc. was founded by Jon Cooper, an SEO specialist. He evaluates the results of a guest article for SEOmoz, a prominent site for SEO and internet marketing experts, in the piece referenced above.

The article first appeared on the YOUmoz section of SEOmoz, a community site where anyone can submit their work. His blog gained some visibility as a result of this.

Jon’s site garnered over 400 visits the day the piece went live on the main blog. He doesn’t say how much traffic his site received on a daily basis before this, but based on the figure, it appears that his normal traffic had been under 50 visits per day.

That’s a significant improvement. Because of SEOmoz’s clout, the article was replicated 30-40 times, resulting in 60-80 backlinks to Jon’s site. He also obtained 60 RSS subscribers, an increase of 400%!

If the stats and SEO jargon have you stumped, here’s where it all comes together: The widespread exposure provided by this single article piqued the curiosity of a large number of potential clients, resulting in increased revenue for Jon’s SEO firm.

Case Study #3: How Bryan Harris Generated 285 Average Daily Visits with OKdork.com

Video Fruit, a web-based marketing consulting firm, is run by Bryan Harris. According to his website, he turned the Video Fruit idea into a full-time business that generates over $15,000 per month in less than a year. He’s probably worth listening to, in my opinion. Here’s a quick rundown of the early numbers generated by his guest post:

  • Average daily site visits: 285
  • In the first two days after the guest post, 1,782 people visited the site.
  • *73 percent of the visitors were first-time visitors. I’ll take care of the arithmetic for you. That’s a total of 1,300 people!
  • 215 new site subscribers (a 12 percent conversion rate)

That’s quite a feat, especially for a first-time guest blogger. Bryan summarizes the following three lessons learned from this experience:

  • Spend at least 20 hours writing — A 300-word blog post with some subpar advice may be written by anyone. People are hungry for in-depth, high-quality material, but you’ll have to put in a lot of effort to produce valuable pieces.
  • Traffic is boosted by comments — Bryan makes an excellent point here: responding to comments not only strengthens your brand but also increases your visibility. It allows readers to click on your name and be directed to your website once more.
  • Reverse engineer, it fits your website’s needs — This is fantastic. Bryan realized he should be providing the same option for others after seeing how useful the guest post was for him. Share your platform once you’ve established it.

Case Study #4: Over the course of 15 days, I landed 8 successful guest posts

Adam Enfroy is the author of this case study. In January of this year, he began an experiment with guest blog posts. He sought guest writing possibilities over the period of 15 days. He got in touch with 68 sites, and 28 of them expressed an interest in collaborating with him. Adam approached 18 of the 28 people anCase Study #3: d offered them guest posts.

He landed up guest blogging gigs on eight domains out of the 18 contacts he made (with all having a minimum DA of 60). In total, 8 posts were published in two weeks.

Creating guest blog posts for the blogs resulted in the creation of 268 new organic keywords that rank in the top 100 of the SERPs, 247 new backlinks, and 32 new referring domains. Along with that, organic traffic has increased by 372 percent, and the domain rating has improved by 12 points.

In addition, Adam’s Alexa Rank increased by 600,000. The story, however, does not end there. Throughout 2019, Adam Enfroy made many contributions to content pieces. He’ll have published over 80 articles before year-end.

The final product is great. From 0 to 76, his domain rating improved. And what about his organic visitors? It went from 0 to 300,000+ in a matter of days. He was even able to make $61,000 monthly on his own blog.

This case study demonstrates that publishing content on other websites can still be profitable. You can predict your SEO efficiency to increase if you obtain high-quality connections from websites with high DA.

Case Study #5: In just one year, you may increase your search traffic by 342.35 percent

In just one year, Bamidele Onibalusi increased his site’s search traffic by 342.35 percent. He was able to publish 31 guest blogs during this time. These were generally in niches other than writing and were posted on reputable blogs. Although the guest blogs were prepared and submitted in about a week, it took nearly six weeks for them to all go online.

Bamidele’s website had just been up for a year when the guest posting campaign began. The website barely had 320 visitors per day on average before the campaign began.

After five months, the site averaged 678 daily views. That’s a 211.87 percent raise. The figures continued to rise over the next few weeks. The site received a 342 percent increase of approximate traffic from search engines one year after the campaign started.

That’s great, considering there were no additional marketing efforts running at the time. This means that Bamidele’s 31 guest posts were responsible for all of the site’s traffic.

The process of gaining visitors from writing content for others does not happen immediately. You must be patient before seeing any results, so keep watch of the numbers. Publishing content on your website is a lengthy marketing strategy, so keep that in mind. Taking the proper measures can result in fantastic results and more traffic.

Publishing content on popular websites has a lot of power, and anyone who is prepared to put in the time and effort can do it. However, there is a lot that may go wrong. The wrong topics on the wrong website can lead to a complete waste of time and the guest post outreach is not good enough, it may also consume plenty of time.

Spend some time researching and getting everything correct that you can influence if you want to employ content writing for other websites as a marketing tactic. Your results will more than compensate for the time and work you put into your strategy, and you’ll see a lot more benefits for your internet marketing than just increased organic traffic.
